HealthGrid is an initiative that gathers means and people from different backgrounds wanting to reach one goal: to reinforce and to promote awareness of the possibilities and advantages linked to the deployment of Grid technologies in the biomedical sector.

The concept of HealthGrid is to develop a strong relationship with clinicians and researchers to gain feedback in integration of grid use into health and apply them in the biomedical, medical and biological domains.

Technologies and know-how are provided not only from academic research but also from industries. Thus, it becomes possible for the initiative to be involved in scientific trials where heterogeneous data are applied, and notably from the molecular to the population level. Guiding and promoting the grid technologies and their applications into health research and development are today HealthGrid's objective but the final goal would be actually to make successful the regular and worldwide use of healthgrids at the industrial level.
